Some $56.8 billion in contracts, representing Guyana’s largest housing infrastructure development programme were signed between the Ministry of Housing and Water – Central Housing and Planning Authority (CHPA) and contractors, to ensure that Guyanese can enjoy wholesome communities.

In total, 126 contracts were signed for the execution of infrastructure works such as roads, bridges, culverts and electrical networks across Regions Three, Four, Five, Six, Seven and Ten.

The simple ceremony was held at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre with the attendance of the Minister of Housing and Water, Hon. Collin Croal; Chief Executive Officer of CHPA, Mr. Sherwyn Greaves; CHPA Director of Projects, Mr. Omar Narine and Deputy Director, Mr. Intakab Indarjeet.

Minister Croal charged the contractors to mobilize as quickly as possible and to complete the projects in an efficient and timely manner. He also urged them to work with the Ministry and CHPA to communicate any issues that may arise along the project timelines.

CEO Greaves also urged the contractors to ensure their work matches necessary standards and to keep in mind the importance of the project to Guyanese.

The contracts signed include following:

Infrastructure development works at Meten-en-Meer-Zorg Phase 3, Stewartville East & West, Leonora Phase 2, Region Three – $15.47 billion

Infrastructure development works at De-Engrat, Hope Block 6, Hope Blocks A&B, La Resouvenir and Success, Good Hope Phase 4, Great Diamond Block 3, Great Diamond Block 7, Golden Grove Block 2, Golden Grove Block 13, Region Four – $21.78 billion.

Infrastructure development works at Burma Phase 2, Balthyock, Shieldstown, Region Five – $3.31 billion.

Infrastructure development works at Palmyra, No. 75 village, No. 76 village, Region Six – $9.4 billion.

Infrastructure development works at Bartica, Region Seven at $1.08 billion.

Infrastructure development works at Silica City, Region Ten – $2.11 billion.
