Essequibo housing outreach deemed a success – CEO Greaves

… Over 2000 Essequibo Coast residents attended to by Housing officials

Residents of villages along the Essequibo Coast, Pomeroon/Supernaam Reg. 2 have lauded the efforts of the Ministry of Housing and Water- Central Housing and Planning Authority as they commenced works to revamp the operating systems in the region. On Monday a team led by Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sherwyn Greaves initiated a plan of action with three massive public meetings at central points along the Essequibo Coast. The meetings were held at the Charity Secondary School, State House Anna Regina, and at Suddie Primary School, where scores of persons turned out to benefit from all services offered by the housing authority. Minister Rodrigues visit to Prospect

Minister within the Ministry of Housing & Water, Hon. Susan Rodrigues responded to an invitation from the residents of the Prospect Housing Development, East Bank Demerara, earlier today where she addressed matters of interest to the development of that community. Housing’s new board of Directors introduced

The newly appointed Board of Directors for the Central Housing and Planning Authority have begun meeting virtually, with the aim of fast-tracking the mandate of the agency in the interest of all Guyanese.

Cabinet recently approved the new board to take up their respective appointments. The Board is chaired by Dr. Emanuel Cummings and its other members include; Julius Fabaer, David Armogan, Michael Hutson, Cosmos De Santos, Azeena Baksh, Yonnick David, and Chandrowtie Sarran. Dr. Cummings once served as a board member in the past and like the others, they all bring to the table an impressive and diverse range of background disciplines and a wealth of experience. Promised kept as Canal Number One Conservancy residents get potable water

As promised, residents of the Canal Number One, Conservancy area, are now accessing potable water for the first time, to their homes from the Guyana Water Incorporated.

On August 25th last, the Minister of Housing and Water the Hon. Collin Croal along with the Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Mr. Deodat Indar visited residents to address their concerns. After hearing of the water situation in the community, Minister Croal committed to making water accessible within a month. Works in the area commenced almost immediately and residents are now appreciative of their new water connection which was delivered two days short of the one-month deadline. Read More

13 families of Barabina get water for the first time

As promised, just under a month ago, some 65 residents of Barabina, in the Mabaruma Sub-district, Region One are now accessing potable water to their homes for the first time. In early August, the Hon. Collin Croal, Minister of Housing and Water, met with residents who complained about the water situation. As a result of the Minister’s intervention and based on advice from engineers of Guyana Water Inc. it was found that the existing Barabina Pump Station and distribution network could have facilitated extension to serve the households in need. Works for the extension commenced almost immediately and as of Monday, September 14, 2020 residents were accessing water to their homes. The works were executed by the staff of the Guyana Water Inc. with aid from the Barabina Village Council and the Regional Democratic Council. Read More
