56 Region Three Families Receive Land Titles

July 28, 2024 – As promised by President His Excellency Dr. Irfaan Ali, earlier today, 56 families who have been occupying lands without documentation received their Certificate of Title.

During an early morning engagement, after delivering remarks, the President handed over the Land Titles to the families.
The families of Philadelphia, Barnwell, Good Hope, and De Willem have been occupying their lands for more than two decades without legal documents.

Also present at the event were the subject Minister, the Hon. Collin Croal, the Minister within the Ministry of Public Works – the Hon. Deodat Indar, the Regional Chairman- Mr Inshan Ayube, and other regional officials.

In his remarks, President Ali noted his pleasure in sharing this moment with the families.
According to President Ali, his administration is committed to working for every Guyanese family for their upliftment.
“I want you to enjoy this moment. This is a great moment, and today is a day you will never forget, knowing that you have a government that will fully back you as we move forward,” President Ali told the gathering.
The President added that despite the critics, the government will allow its many successes to speak. “…The best way to silence the critics is with the love for country and love for people…”


Meanwhile, as Operation Clean-up continues with a focus on relocation and regularisation, the President announced that in another month, residents of Vergenoegen/Acme, De Kindren, and Greenwich Park will also be able to uplift their Certificate of Title.

Also, he assured that the respective agencies are working to bring solutions to other areas with similar issues. The President, however, cautioned that there are some areas where regularization may not be possible. However, other options will be explored.

According to President Ali, while the processing of titles continues, his administration will continue to ensure that the region benefits from every other critical infrastructure.

Also, on the occasion, Minister Croal congratulated the families and encouraged others to make themselves available to complete the process of receiving their Titles.

Operation Clean Up was announced on 14th July 2023 by His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali during the distribution of Titles Exercise at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo. Since the announcement of “Operation Clean–Up,” Surveys for the following areas have been completed, and the processing of Titles commenced.
